Bridge Shield
Heavy vehicle route planning · NZ

Every load. Every bridge.
Cleared before you leave the yard.

Upload your permits once. Bridge Shield reads every bridge restriction, plans a route that avoids anything you can't legally cross, flags what needs a pilot, and keeps the record to prove it.

DO NOT CROSS
Clear Pilot required Do not cross — routed around

Not a demo. Bridge Shield runs on real NZTA and district council permits — the exact PDFs your business already has on file — checked against real multi-region routes before it ever reached a live customer.

The problem

One permit isn't the whole picture.

A single vehicle can operate under a dozen different permits, one per region, each with its own bridge list, speed limits, and expiry date. Cross the wrong one and you're looking at fines, bridge damage, or worse — and if it ever gets questioned, "we were pretty sure it was fine" isn't an answer. Bridge Shield reads the actual permit documents and turns them into a route you can trust, every time.

How it works

Four steps, the same every time — no manual bridge-checking, no relying on memory.

01

Upload the permit

PDF in, structured bridge data out — coordinates, speed limits, lane position, expiry.

02

Plan the route

Enter a start and end point. The route is checked against every permit the vehicle holds.

03

Avoid what you can't cross

Any Do Not Cross bridge is routed around automatically. Pilot-required bridges are flagged plainly.

04

Prove it

Every restriction is on record, tied to its source permit — ready if it's ever questioned.

Not a black box

Every route decision traces straight back to the permit that caused it.

Permit
A council or NZTA permit, uploaded once
Restriction
DO NOT CROSS on one specific bridge in that permit's schedule
Bridge
Its exact GPS location, checked against every route planned
Route decision
Automatically routed around it — no manual detour planning

What it actually looks like

Rerouted

Waikato to Bay of Plenty

Shortest route crossed a Do Not Cross bridge. Bridge Shield found a legal alternative via SH1 and SH26 automatically — no manual detour planning.

Pilot flagged

Central-position bridge

A bridge requiring a pilot vehicle was on the fastest route. Flagged clearly before departure, with a pilot-free alternative offered where one existed.

Verified clear

Multi-region trip

A trip crossing three separate council permits was checked against all of them at once — no bridge missed because it fell outside a single permit's area.

Why this exists

Built by someone who actually drives the load.

Bridge Shield didn't start as a software idea. It started on the side of the road, flipping through a stack of paper permits to work out if the bridge up ahead was actually still safe to cross — with a loaded crane sitting behind the cab and no easy way to check.

That's not a hypothetical. It's how heavy transport actually runs for a lot of operators in New Zealand right now: multiple regional permits per vehicle, bridges that change restrictions without warning, and a driver who has to make the call on the spot with whatever paperwork happens to be in the cab. Bridge Shield exists so that call is never a guess again.
